I Want To Have It All Too!

Erin Cox is the founder of Bestseller in a Weekend, Bestseller in a Weekend for Fiction Writers and Audiobook in a Weekend.

Erin Cox is a South Dakota girl, raised by loving and supportive parents. She’d never heard of meditation as a child, but loved spirituality and being at her Lutheran church. She went to North Dakota State University for a degree in Biology, and then to the University of Minnesota for Water Resources Science and Environmental Engineering. Why? Because she is an idealistic earth lover and thought she could somehow help save the world. She also wanted to make her family proud.

Erin got her first real job in Newport Beach, California, where she met my husband, fell madly in love and got married one year from the day they met, on August 3rd, 2002. They moved straight to Anchorage, Alaska, where her husband had his first assignment as an Air Force F-15 pilot. Then they moved to the Mojave Desert, where she had her first baby, Ella, in 2006. What a life changing moment! Part of her never wanted to leave her for a minute, while her “ego” had so identified with her career as an environmental engineer and she wasn’t yet ready to let it go. There was a small part of her that knew it wasn’t her purpose…but she just kept moving forward.

In 2009, Erin became pregnant for the second time and was overjoyed. She went in for an ultrasound at 9-weeks, and heard the beloved baby’s heartbeat. But…it was a little slower than the doctor liked to see, so she was asked to come back two weeks later. At the second ultrasound, the heartbeat was gone. Not only that, there was a large tumor that had overtaken the uterus, making it so that the baby couldn’t survive. After the D&C procedure to remove the baby and tumor, Erin felt empty and numb. That night, she couldn’t sleep and was finally overcome with body-shaking grief. She sobbed with mourning, and then yelled out to God in anger, “Why God? What did I do to deserve this? Why are you angry with me?”

In that moment … a loving warmth and feeling overtook Erin.

She “heard” God, the Divine, telling her that she was loved unconditionally and that He didn’t cause anything to happen to her, but He did want her to use the pain to push herself to discover and LIVE her purpose. Erin also knew that she had to take time every morning for prayer and meditation – a practice she has done nearly every morning since.

It took two years of daily meditation to really understand what she was meant to do, and another two years to finally quit her job.

When this whole “longing for more” process started, Erin was frustrated. She knew she was destined to do something to help humanity, to love, and to serve. But had no idea exactly what it was. Through her morning meditation and prayer, this fuzzy picture became more and more clear. She can help guide others through this process and help them learn from her successes and mistakes.

In the year after Erin lost the baby, she gratefully became pregnant again. She also became a voracious self-help book reader and really enjoyed Wayne Dyer’s books. Wayne started showing up everywhere! On Oprah’s podcast while Erin was running, and then in her Yoga Journal where she saw an advertisement for his keynote speech at an “I Can Do It” conference in Tampa, Florida, about 4 hours from where she was living at the time. Erin attended Dr. Dyer’s talk and was “lit up.” The entire time she was at that conference, she had a strange knowing that she was exactly where she needed to be. Erin picked up a flyer on her way out for a writer’s workshop that Hay House was going to have the following January, 2011, on a Caribbean cruise. She knew in her heart that she simply HAD to be on that cruise ship. She put the flyer up on her vision board and prayed about it for months. Erin’s husband wanted to be supportive, but it was expensive and he felt they just couldn’t afford it at that time. He was right, but Erin felt so compelled that she had to go. The week that registration for the cruise and workshop closed in December … Erin received a completely unexpected surprise in the mail – a check from the hospital where her second baby had been born, for nearly the exact amount of the cruise and workshop. She ran to her computer and signed up!

The rest is history! Erin was able to submit a proposal to Hay House for her book called One Hot Mama: The Guide to Getting Your Mind and Body Back After Baby. On her birthday in 2011, she got the keys to her new home in Oregon and got a call from Reid Tracy, CEO of Hay House, letting her know that she’d been awarded a publishing contract! What a day! They went out to celebrate and had an amazing night…and 9-months later they had their third baby – a little boy!

One Hot Mama is the book that wouldn’t leave Erin’s consciousness. While writing it, words came to her in nearly unconscious streams from the divine. Her greatest hope is that it empowers women to love and take care of themselves and live their purpose while raising babies. Happy moms raise happy children and she also believes that happy women are better spouses and partners too!

Erin wholeheartedly believe that motherhood is one of the most beautiful blessings that life has to offer, but it also presents a multitude of additional challenges for self-care and personal development. Her mission is to love, nurture, and support women so they can love and feel good about themselves, live their dream lives and offer their best selves to their loved ones. www.erincox.com

Having it all is not about striving for perfection, or about living our lives according to someone else’s standards or expectations (we’ve done that for far too long).

It’s not about working ourselves to a state of exhaustion, spreading ourselves too thin, or trading inner peace and contentment for outer trinkets of success.

Been there. Done that too.

Having it all simply means having access to all of yourself, in any moment you choose it, and in every aspect of life that is important to you.

Learn exactly how you can “Have it All Too”

Right at this moment, no matter how you are feeling, no matter how in debt you might be, no matter how old you are or how much you weigh, and no matter what the condition of your relationships might be, you have the power to re-create yourself and your life exactly the way you desire it to be – and quite frankly, the way you deserve it to be.

Regardless of how big a gap exists between what you want and what you currently have, within you is the ability to effortlessly and joyfully bridge that gap in virtually every aspect of your life.

You can have it all, how you define it, how you want it. You do have the power to create it.
